Study Together is a global student community built to help you stay motivated and focused on your studies. Our 24/7 study rooms enable you to study alongside 500.000+ other students 🤓. Free, always available, accessible from everywhere.
Here you will find the answers to the frequently asked questions and our community guidelines, that allow us to study in a motivating and secure environment.
Can you imagine going to the library without actually having to go? On Study Together you can grab a snack or chat with a friend during your study break without being told off by the librarian.
Enter one of the study rooms to study, and let your neurons mirror other people’s behavior - seeing others studying will boost your own productivity.
As you study on Study Together your progress will be tracked and gamified, and you will also be rewarded for keeping it up🏆.
Once in the study room, you can change your name, the layout on how to see the other learners and decide if you would like to share your video via webcam). Thats it! You can now start to study.
- It's totally up to you if you want to leave the camera on or off. If you leave it on, you can either show yourself studying or your notebook/desk
- You can also change your profile name 🧑🏽 on zoom (e.g. by showing the subject you are working on or the country you are from)
- Please note that sound 🔈 and the chat function are disabled by default to allow a quiet and nice working atmosphere for everyone in the call
- You can switch between a gallery view (to see all videos) or pin 📌 specific videos to your screen
- Some students choose via reaction to raise their hands✋. This will show them on the first screens of the call and make it easier to be found
- You will also find a study timer ⏲️ and an infoboard with the upcoming events and news. Don’t forget to check it and don’t miss out!
If you see a misbehaviour (like nudity, racism, violence or other inappropriate behaviours), you can also contact the Zoom support and file an official complaint against the person. Please also include as much information as possible (describe the situation, give the participants name, date and time of the occurrence).

How does it keep you accountable?
Upon joining a room, it asks you to post a session goal at #session-goals. Failing to do so after 10 min will result to being moved to the afk/break-channel.If you post a goal, the #auto-accountability acknowledges the session goal when you are in a study channel. It will then remind you to post another goal in two hours. Again, failure to do so after 10 min, will result to being moved to the afk/break-channel.
If you have any of those roles, you can type !musichelp in a channel which will show you all the needed commands to play music in a study channel.
You can type !forest to start sharing your Forest session room.
Sharing that timer is made possible in the channel #submit-forest-cuckoo, simply type !cuckoo to start sharing the room and possibly get other students studying with you on the same timer.
Our Community Rules
In order to allow a good working atmosphere for all participants, we have set up a number of community guidelines & rules, that have to be followed by all participants. By joining one of our study rooms (on any of our channels (e.g Discord, Zoom), you adhere to these rules. Non-adherence to these rules may result in an instant removal and permanent ban from our study rooms, often without a warning.
1.
No conversations that do not belong in a study server. Keep conversations relevant and study-related in study chats (non-study chats like #general, #chill-chat excluded).

All the following rules also apply for DM's (private messages) with server members. If they report you breaking a rule, you will be permanently banned from the server.
3.
Not following the Discord TOS (Terms of Service) and/or Discord Community Guidelines will result in a permanent ban.
4.
Study calls are only meant for studying/productive tasks/work – no other activities are allowed in study calls. You ought to leave a study call when you are not studying/not doing any study-related activities/not doing productive work.
5.
Who can use Study Together? We try to make Study Together available to everyone, but you cannot use Study Together if you are under 13 years old or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country (see rule 3).

Maintain a positive general atmosphere in the chats. Negative vibes/thoughts can go to #venting-channel; not in the general chats
7.
English only in chat, except for the following channels: #chill-chat; #day-goals; #session-goals, #long-term-goals and all private channel chats. In those channels chatting in a foreign language is allowed.
8.
#session-goals are for real session goals only. "Same", "Continue", 1-character goals such as 'p' or 's' may not be deemed as session goals. An example of a good session goal is: "Do question 4, 6, 7 + start reading chapter 5".
9.
No discriminatory jokes and language, hate speech (which calls out a group by their age, race, gender), etc.
10.
No displaying offensive, derogatory, or sexually explicit content.
11.
No displaying content that does not belong in a study server.
12.
No verbal abuse, insults, or threats towards others.
13.
No Sharing private information (in any form) of others without their permission
14.
Value the privacy of others in the server. Do not record the screen, capture screenshots or click pictures using external devices of other users while you are in a study session.
15.
Do not post, upload, share or stream content that displays firearms, firearm accessories, ammunition, or explosive weapons. We do not allow the depiction, discussion, promotion of firearms.
16.
No sharing of surveys. We recommend you posting them in any of the servers in #homework-help.
17.
No phishing of private information.
18.
Study calls are only meant for studying/productive work. 'Farming' study calls, or showing non-realistic study statistics may lead to a permanent leaderboard exclusion.

No pornographic content.
20.
No publishing of any form of personal information (including real names, photo's, addresses, emails, passwords, bank account and credit card information, etc.)

No personal attacks

No harassment

No sexism

No creeping in-server or in-DM's. This is a study server, not a dating website.

No racism

No hate speech

No offensive language/cursing

No religious discussions

No Not Safe for Work (NSFW), Not Safe for Life (NSFL), racist, homophobic, disturbing, or sexist posts or comments and images. This includes usernames and avatars.

No excessive messaging (breaking up an idea in many posts instead of writing all out in just one post).

No walls of text (either in seperate posts or as a single post).
36.
No unnecessary pings in the chat. People are most likely studying.
37.
No overusing emojis.

Self-promotion is disallowed, unless if it's approved by staff (DM @Staff Support)
39.
No linking to other servers whatsoever, also not via DM.
40.
No suicidal references or suicidal jokes – keep in mind that the ST! community consists of students – not professionals. Please contact a professional if you think you require mental help/a person to talk to regarding that specific subject.
41.
No voice chat channel hopping.
42.
No annoying, loud or high pitch noises.
43.
Reduce the amount of background noise, if possible.
44.
Have proper video calling & screensharing etiquette (no smoking, no use of alcohol or any drugs, no revealing clothes, no inappropriate sitting postures, clear lighting, no artificial filters, no distractive/inappropriate content, no masks or inappropriate face accessories-excluding medical masks).
45.
Staff members reserve the right to delete any post if they see necessary.
46.
Staff members reserve the right to mute you in a voice channel if your sound quality is poor or if it is disturbing others.
47.
Staff members reserve the right to disconnect, mute, deafen or move members to and from voice channels.
48.
Staff members reserve the right to take appropriate actions at all times if they see necessary.
49.
Advocating for or encouraging any of the rules above.
