4. Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data
If we obtain your consent to the processing of personal data, Article 6(1) Letter a of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will serve as the legal basis.
When processing personal data necessary for the performance of a contract with you, Article 6(1) Letter b GDPR will serve as the legal basis. This also applies to processing necessary for the performance of pre-contractual measures.

5. Automated Collection of Access Data/Server Logfiles
During every access to the Website, we will automatically collect certain technical data.
This includes the:
User’s IP address
Name of the retrieved Website or file
Time and date of access
Volume of data transferred
Successful retrieval notification
Browser type and version
User’s operating system
User’s device, including MAC address
Referrer URL (previously-visited page)
We will process this data for the following purposes:
Guarantee smooth connectivity to our Website;
Guarantee comfortable use of our Website;
Trace unauthorized access to our Internet offer;
Assess system security and stability;
Other administrative purposes.
What is an IP address?
Every device (e.g., smartphone, tablet or PC) connected to the Internet is assigned an IP address. Which IP address this is depends on the Internet connection through which your device is connected to the Internet. This may be the IP address assigned to you by your Internet provider, e.g., when you are connected to the Internet at home via WiFi. This may also be an IP address assigned to you by your mobile network provider or the IP address of a public or private WiFi or other Internet access provider. In the currently most common form (IPv4), an IP address consists of four digit blocks separated by points. As a private user, you will normally not use a permanent IP address, since your IP address will be assigned to you by your provider temporarily (so-called “dynamic IP address”). A permanently assigned IP address (so-called “static IP address”) may be used to identify your user data.
Our Website supports IPv6 addresses. If you have an IPv6 address, you should also know: IPv6 addresses consist of eight 4-digit blocks. The first four blocks will, like the entire IPv4 address, normally be issued to private users dynamically. However, the last four blocks of an IPv6 address (the so-called “interface identifier”) will also be determined by the device you use to browse the Website. Unless configured otherwise by your operating system, the so-called MAC address will be used for this. The MAC address is a kind of serial number issued once to every IP-ready device worldwide. We will therefore not save the last four blocks of your IPv6 address. We recommend activating the so-called “Privacy Extensions” on your device to better anonymize the last four blocks of your IPv6 address. Most standard operating systems feature a “Privacy Extensions” function which, however, may not be preconfigured in every case.
6. Publicly Accessible Content
Please note that Study Together provides a platform on which you can interact with other users. All personal data added by you will be made public. Depending on your privacy settings, either no, only your selected or all users of Study Together may view this information. To create your profile, you can also use the service „Join with Facebook“, “Join with Discord”, “Join with Twitter”, “Join with UNiDAYS” or „Sign in with Google“ (i.e. use a so-called social sign-on functionality). As part of order performance, e.g., the service providers (e.g., shipping companies, logisticians or printing houses) used by us will receive the data necessary for order performance. Our service providers may only use data transferred this way to perform their order-related tasks. 12. Web Analysis & A/B Testing
Study Together uses various web analytics services to review and improve its offering. These are partly integrated via the Google Tag Manager, which enables the administration of the services. The Tag Manager itself does not set any cookies and does not collect any personal data - except for the IP address, which is technically necessary for the execution of the Tag Manager. The services collect information about your usage behavior, the browser you use and settings. This information can neither be linked to your person by the web analytics services nor by Study Together.
In detail, these are the following services:Google Analytics - Study Together uses Google Analytics, a service of Google Ireland Ltd (Ireland), to analyze and improve the offer. Google Analytics uses cookies, text files that are stored on your computer and enable an analysis of your use of Study Together. The information generated by the cookie about the use of Study Together is transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Study Together uses IP anonymization for Google Analytics. Your IP address is therefore shortened by Google before transmission in a member state of the European Union or a contracting state of the Agreement on the European Economic Area, so that a personal reference can no longer be established, even by third parties. We can also use the data collected by Google Analytics to place particularly relevant advertisements on other websites for certain user groups (e.g. visitors to a certain page of the platforms) via Google AdWords. It is not possible for us to identify individual persons in this process. You can revoke your consent to the collection and storage of data at any time with effect for the future by downloading and installing the browser plugin available under the following link
https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.
Hotjar - Study Together uses Hotjar, a service provided by Hotjar Ltd (Malta), to analyze and improve its services. Hotjar uses cookies, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use Study Together. The information generated by the cookie about the use of Study Together is transmitted to a server in Ireland and stored there. Your IP address is shortened by Hotjar before transmission and thus anonymized, so that a reference to a person can no longer be established, even by third parties. The complete privacy policy of Hotjar can be found here. If you do not wish your data to be collected by Hotjar, you can object to this here.
13. Marketing & Advertising Provider
We use various external service providers and advertising networks to market our offer. The following applies to all tools: You can object to their use by making the appropriate setting in the cookie preferences.Advertising providers (Google Ads (USA), Bing Ads (USA), Facebook Ads (USA), YouTube (USA), TikTok Ads (Ireland and the UK), are integrated when using the platforms without being logged in as a registered user. Thus, when you access the platforms, a request is sent to these third-party providers. Your browser then communicates directly with the respective third-party provider. The provider learns your IP address and can store cookies on your computer. These cookies only contain the information that you are interested in our platform, so that advertising for Study Together, such as special offers, can be delivered to you on websites of the partners of these advertising providers. Study Together itself does not access cookies of third-party providers and does not transmit any personal data to these advertising providers.Also, after logging in to Study Together, a request is sent to our advertising partners. Your browser then communicates directly with our partners. This allows them to check whether a corresponding cookie is stored on your computer due to previous interaction with advertising of the respective partner and then inform us about the number of registrations/purchases.The privacy policies, as well as the configuration of the interest-based advertising of the advertising providers can be viewed at the following links:https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
